finding beauty in the brokenness

Happy Sunday!

This morning started with a quiet moment of connection with the Lord, but it quickly turned into a lesson on surrender. As I was reflecting, I accidentally kicked over my favorite coffee mug which was a gift from a dear friend, and it shattered on the floor. The coffee spilled out, creating a stain on my rug, a stark reminder of how life can feel when our plans suddenly go a different way.

This mug held so much significance for me. Not only was it a reminder of a sweet friendship, given with love, but it has become a daily rhythm using it. Losing it felt like losing a part of that connection and some normalcy I so desperately long for in this season of transition.

As I collected the broken pieces, I realized that this moment mirrors my journey in following God’s call on my life. There have been times when I’ve held on too tightly to my own expectations, trying to control how everything should look and feel. But just like the mug, my visions and plans can shatter unexpectedly.

Yet, in this brokenness, I felt the Lord reminding me that He is the only one capable of putting the pieces back together. My surrender to His will is where true beauty lies. I’ve decided to keep the pieces of the mug on my counter as a reminder of His faithfulness and the power of surrender.

Sometimes, we need to let go and trust that God can create something beautiful from our brokenness.
