Moments That Matter Most

Happy Tuesday! We are just a few days in to a 3 week school break for the kids at Project Canaan. I am trying to get away from the emails, tasks, Camp Canaan preparation, and so much more and actually be present with the kids. When I arrived this morning to work, I was greeted at my car by Joshua who offered to carry all of my things to my office and just wanted to hang out. I brought a new game to introduce to the kids and thought I would play with a group of kids but I guess there was something more important that needed to happen. Joshua and I sat down and began to play this game. I quickly went over the rules and we began the game. His demeanor instantly changed as he began placing his dominoes out and with each placement his smile got bigger and bigger. It is in these moments that I am reminded of the power of connection. The conversations that happen when we are fully present are beautiful and inspiring.

Today, I’m reminded of how vital our connections really are. It’s the little moments that matter, like sharing a laugh over a game of dominoes. It’s not just a game; it’s about building relationships and making memories. Each smile and each shared experience is like adding a deposit into our emotional bank, strengthening our bonds. I know for me, these moments add value and joy to my life so I can imagine that the same happens for him too.

Connections are so important and we all need it daily! They remind us that we’re not alone, and that we each have a place in this world. So let's take a moment to appreciate those relationships and keep investing in them. After all, it’s these connections that truly enrich our lives.

Wherever you are today, I hope and pray you are encouraged to connect with someone who may need it or even reach out and ask to connect with someone because YOU need it.

So today, take a moment:

Reach out. Sit with someone. Go for a walk. Make the call. Send the text. FaceTime that person you miss.

For me, those moments are the ones that propel me to continue to put one foot in front of the other on the good and hard days. Who are you connecting with today? Or what do you need to do to connect with someone today?
